Hereford MP, Paul Keetch, is delighted that, with the recent inclement weather, the city's £5.5million flood defence scheme constructed on the south bank of the River Wye is holding water.

Commenting, the MP who was instrumental in obtaining government funding to allow the scheme to go ahead, said, "I am so pleased that after years of hard work this scheme is now in place and doing the job is was designed to do.

I am looking forward to officially opening the scheme at the end of this week and trust that local businesses and residents are satisfied with the job done and the positive impact that it will have on their livelihoods and wellbeing."
